After only 3 jam sessions together in the summer of 2020 it was hard to deny the natural musicality that V, K$tuss, Duo Greene and Caden1 had. So over a Whatsapp call they decided to turn the chaos of the pandemic's unknown into a “plandemic” as they thought about the ways they could make what they loved a part of their everyday lives. Fusing all of their favorite genres of music like rock, jazz and soul they created an alternative R&B sound.
Duo Greene is the lead singer and songwriter of Black Lotus Band. She's
been
performing and writing for many years (she has declined to tell the number of years because
she
wants to keep some sense of mystery.) During her beginner music years she did music theater
in
her community and high school. Her musical choices are influenced by the gospel, soul and
r&b
that was played in her home by her parents and older sister.
Bet you didn't know: DUO is an acronym for her real name.
K$tuss is the bassist in Black lotus band. It was while bussing tables
at
his first job and listening to the songs of Curtis Mayfield that he decided to pick up the
bass.
From there he joined his High School jazz band and later was a stand-in bassist for his
cousin's
Dominican folkloric band Palo Monte. His love for soul and latin jazz influences the bass
lines
that he makes today.
Bet you didn't know: K$tuss was in a promo video for Kendrick Lamar's To
Pimp a
Butterfly
album
King V is the founder and drummer of Black Lotus Band. V has been
drumming
for over 25 years in many genres of music ranging from Metal, rock, jazz and more.
Bet you didn't know: Before a show V likes to keep to himself zen by not talking and
meditating
before
stepping on the stage.
Sean Washington A.k.A. Caden1 is the guitarist and keyboardist
for black lotus band. With an extensive background in music education, Sean has a career
spanning nearly 15 years across various genres. From sharing the stage with acts such as
Sarah
Longfield, Angela Vivaldi and Felix Martin as a modern progressive metal guitarist, to
working
with and collaborating with various artist and singers within the jazz, R&B, Hip-hop and Pop
genres, Sean has become one of the most prevalent, unbound dormant forces slowly growing
within
music today. In 2020, after having a friendship with the members, Sean became the fourth and
final core member of Black Lotus Band, contributing to the unique, energetic, soulful energy
that Black lotus give. The rest as they say is ...history.
Bet you didn't know: Sean likes to enjoy a good dinner before or after a
show. He
enjoys drinking herbal tea, as well as listening to music while hiking
